Eurazos y eurillos
The use of augmentative and diminutive suffixes is extremely common in informal speech in Spain.
There a several variations of these; the usage depends very much on the region and the exact message the speaker wishes to convey.
An amusing use of these suffixes is with the word "euro": when the speaker wants to imply that the amount is small, he or she will often say eurillo; conversely, if they wish to convey the idea that it is a large amount, they will often say eurazo.
Not only do the diminutives refer to size, but they can also refer to something of little importance, as well as a conveying affection or fondness. See sufijos apreciativos.
-¿Cuánto es la alfombra? -Son 20 eurillos — How much is the carpet? -It's just 20 euros
Qué afortunado soy, ya que no hice una inversión de 20 eurazos — I'm so lucky, since I didn't make the investment of a whole 20 euros
Se está calentito aquí — It's nice and warm here
Me dio una explicación cortita y al pie — He gave me a nice, short and to-the-point explanation
Vaya nochecita (irónico) — What a night!
Eso sí que es un periodicazo — That sure is a hell of a newspaper
Juan tiene un cochazo — Juan has a heck of a car
Me di un martillazo en el dedo — I whacked my finger with a hammer
